Route: Geyser Valley and Uzon volcano caldera – Magnificent views of the Tolbachik volcano eruption area – Avacha bay cruise with an outing into the Pacific Ocean – Ascending the Gorelyi volcano – Ascending into the Mutnovskiy volcano crater – Ascending the Avachinskiy volcano.
Day 1.
Hotel transfer from the airport. Rest. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2.
Breakfast. Departing to the helidrome. Helicopter + Geyser Valley and Uzon volcano caldera walking tour (5 hours). Lunch in the Nalychevo valley. Visiting the natural hot water springs. Returning to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Note: The helicopter tour to the Geyser valley will only take place in favourable weather conditions.
Day 3.
Breakfast. Departing Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy towards the base of Tolbachik volcano. Lunch in Milkovo settlement. Dinner and overnight stay in tents at the base camp located under the “Claw” cone of Tolbachik volcano.
Day 4.
Breakfast. Exploring the area of the latest eruption of the Tolbachik volcano (2012-2013). Exploring the lava fields and lava caves. Ascending the Naboko cone. Lunch (lunchboxes). Returning to base camp. Dinner. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5.
Breakfast. Travelling (by car) towards the cones of the Northern rupture eruption of 1974-1975. Ascending the cone of the Northern rupture, which still radiates heat. Certain spots of this cone are still hot enough to light a stick on fire or pan-fry some eggs right on the ground. Lunch (lunch boxes). Transfer to the Southern rupture cones. Exploring the “Dead Forest”. Viewing of the lava caves near the “Star” cone. Returning to base camp. Dinner. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 6.
Breakfast. Transfer to Esso Settlement. Hotel check-on, lunch. Rest. Swimming in hot springs. Sauna. Dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7.
Breakfast. Visiting the ethnographic museum. Transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Lunch in Milkovo settlement. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Petropavlovsk.
Day 8.
Breakfast. Avacha bay cruise, with an outing into the Pacific Ocean, towards Starichkov island. Fishing, fish soup. Tasting of fresh crab and sea urchin caviar. Lunch on the boat. Viewing the “Three brothers” rocks. Opportunity to witness seals, killer whales, whales and bird colonies. Returning to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9.
Breakfast. Departing towards Gorelyi volcano (3 hours). Walking up to the volcano crater (3 hours). Exploring the crater, fumaroles, crater lake. Snack (lunch boxes). Returning to base camp. Dinner. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 10.
Breakfast. Departing towards the Mutnovskiy volcano. Climbing into the Mutnovskiy volcano crater (6km, 3 hours). Exploring the crater, crater lake, fumaroles, sulphur deposits, hot water and mud cauldrons. Lunch (lunch boxes). Returning to the base camp. Dinner. Transfer to the base of Avachinskiy volcano. Overnight stay at the base camp near Avachinskiy volcano.
Day 11.
Breakfast. Climbing the Avachinskiy volcano. Lunch at 2000m altitude (lunchboxes). The ascend takes 8-9 hours. Returning to the base camp. Dinner. Transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12.
Breakfast. Visiting the souvenir/gift shops and the local markets. Transfer to the airport.
