Klyuchevskaya sopka volcano ascending (10 days (+2 days for weather)

Klyuchevskaya volcano is an active stratovolcano located in the east of Kamchatka 60 km away from the coast. The age of the volcano is about 7000 years. This is the highest active volcano in Eurasia and the highest peak of Russia outside the Caucasus. Since the eruption in August 15, 2013, its height is 4835 m.

ITINERARY 1

Group size: 3-7 pax.

Participants of this tour need to be in a good physical shape.

Route:

Day 1st. Arrival to Kamchatka, transfer to Kozyrevsk settlement (500 km.)

Day 2nd. Moving through the Klyuchi village to the station of volcanologists.

Day 3rd. Going to the pass, overnight at an altitude of 1800-2000 m.

Day 4th. Going to the “Perevalny” crater.

Day 5th. Acclimatization.

Day 6th. Ascending to the top, return to the camp.

Day 7th. Going down from the “Perevalny” crater to the altitude of 1800-2000 m.

Day 8th. Going to the “Kopyto” (Hoof) cone.

Day 9th. Transfer from the Kopyto cone to the Kozyrevsk volcano, transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Day 10th. A spare day for the weather.

Day 11th. A spare day for the weather.

Day 12th. Day of departure.

Tour program:

Day 1. Meeting at the airport in Elizovo. Transfer from Elizovo to the Kozyrevsk village (500 km). Lunch on the way to Milkovo. Overnight at the guest house.

Day 2. Transfer from the Kozyrevsk village to the station of volcanologists “Apahonchich” through the village of Klyuchi. Overnight in the house of volcanologists at the altitude of 900 m.

Day 3-4. Going to the pass along the lava flow through the Schmidt Glacier with one overnight on the height of 2700m. Overnight in tents at an altitude of approximately 1800 - 2000m depends on the state of the route.

Day 5. Going to the Perevalny crater (3300m). The way is from 6 to 8 hours. Overnight in tents.

Day 6. Acclimatization. Day for the rest, possible radial walks. It is possible to leave this day in case of bad weather.

Day 7. Ascendingto the top, return to the base camp at 3300m. Overnight.

Day 8. Descent from the Perevalny crater 3300 m through the Bogdanovich glacier with the cross of the lava flow, to an altitude of 1800 - 2000 m, the road takes 9 - 10 hours with snacks and rest. Overnight in tents.

Day 9. Going to the Hoof  cone (900m). Overnight in tents. The car is waiting for you.

Day 10. Going from the Kopyto cone to the Kozyrevsk village (3 hours). Return to PKC. Lunch in the Milkovo village.

  • woolen hat;

Day 9th. Transfer from the Kopyto cone to the Kozyrevsk volcano, transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Day 10th. A spare day for the weather.

Day 9. Going to the Hoof  cone (900m.). Overnight in tents.

Day 10. Transfer from Hoof to Kozyrevsk village for 3 hours. From the village of Kozyrevsk, return to the city of PK. Lunch in Milkovo.
